Introducing… Hannah Carding. To celebrate our fourth birthday we’re putting on an exhibition that brings together a selection of professional artists we’ve worked with since we entered the Frome art scene in 2015. One such artist is Hannah Carding.
Hannah’s work suggests narrative and explores the interactions between wild creatures and the human world. The vignettes she represents convey a sense of the unusual, where humour, pathos and tenderness mingle. She has an MA in Sequential Illustration from Brighton University. In 2009 she exhibited a series of etchings about war at the Imperial War Museum; we’ll be showing one from this series at TO THE FORE. We first met Hannah back when we had a gallery in Dorset (The Old Print Room). Hannah’s work was in our White Heart exhibition. Her work has recently been featured in Frome’s WHY gallery, and Black Swan Arts.
“For me, drawing is about noticing things, and communicating what I notice. I draw and illustrate when I can – a combination of direct observation, memory and my imagination. I generally work in pen and ink but also printmaking and painting too. There is often a narrative thread within my work, it has to be about something.”
Hannah is based in Frome. Visit her website http://www.hannahcarding.com/
