Every day during Advent 2015 we’ll feature a different South West artist. We’ve framed, printed or exhibited the artists featured in Advent Artists.
19th December: Sue Hardy
Sue Hardy is a Dorset-based artist best known for her amazing depictions of animals and natural landscapes in pastel, as well as expressive oils and watercolours. Sue’s work demonstrates a beautiful balance of colour and tone. Though her works are detailed and realistic, they contain movement, emotion and style that can’t be replicated photographically.
Sue has been a horticulturist as well as an artist; plants and the natural world strongly influence her work. Her paintings and drawings depict a truthful rural lifestyle, celebrating the flora, fauna, livestock, the people and families that make up the rich tapestry of rural Dorset life.
Sue has exhibited her work widely across the South West, recent shows include Art in May at Shaftesbury’s Gold Hill hall, Bruton Art Society’s exhibition in August, and First View’s fundraiser exhibition in September.
We enjoy framing Sue’s work in a style that blends traditional and contemporary aesthetics, complimenting her style beautifully.
