Every day during Advent 2015 we’ll feature a different South West artist. We’ve framed, printed or exhibited the artists featured in Advent Artists.
11th December: Hannah Carding
Hannah is based in Frome, having completed a BA in Visual Studies at Norwich School of Art and Design, followed by an MA in Sequential Illustration at Brighton University. Since then Hannah has been practising as an artist, and has exhibited across the South West, in London, Bristol, Paris, and Dulwich. In 2009 she exhibited at the Imperial War Museum. We first met Hannah back when we had a gallery in Dorset (The Old Print Room). Hannah’s work was in our White Heart exhibition.
Hannah’s work suggests narrative and explores the interactions between wild creatures and the human world. The vignettes she represents convey a sense of the unusual, where humour, pathos and tenderness mingle.
We provide Hannah with all the components she needs for her frames: the cut moulding, glass, mount, backboard and hanging fixings. Hannah then takes these components to her studio and assembles and finishes the frame herself. This is a great way to get work framed for those who need to make savings. We’re happy to work with Hannah and other artists in this way. Likewise, we’re always happy to offer free advice to anyone who needs to consult an expert about the best way to frame or mount artwork.
Below is the only Hannah Carding artwork we have framed to completion: it was bought from Hannah at Frome Art Fair and the buyer brought it here to Mount HQ for us to frame.

Hannah is currently exhibiting her work alongside others at Bruton Art Factory’s winter show.
